MEET LAUREN!
My name is Lauren, I’m a 20 something living in Dallas, and you guessed it: single. I’m a Southern California native and TCU graduate. I miss the beach every day, and am a sucker for a good acai bowl, kombucha and the occasional moscow mule (#basic, I know.) Day-to-day you can find me hopping over to work out classes (thanks Class Pass), walking the Katy Trail with friends, and trying new restaurants. I love to travel am always planning my next trip. I am a writer and a dreamer, which is why I created this space. My faith is the most important thing to me, God is at the center of all aspects in my life, and my purpose is to glorify Him in all I do.
OK, less about me and more about this blog. Until 2017, I had not gone on or been asked on a date since college. I have been a bridesmaid six times, have been to more weddings than I can count, and have caught THE bouquet once…(either mine was broken or I don’t think it works). I’m sure many of you can beat me by a landslide in those numbers too. In Texas, and in the community I’m surrounded by, so many people get married young, which is so great! However, it is easy for me to compare myself to them and think “Why am I still single? Am I behind?” And while it’s wonderful to talk to said friends about singleness, it’s hard not to become bitter because, simply, they don’t know what it’s like to be 26 and single. I cannot count how many times I’ve had conversations involving the question, “Why is there so little written from singles for singles?” This is why I’ve created this space. I want there to be a place to encourage singles to live purposeful, exciting and valuable lives, and to know that’s not about waiting for what or who is next. This space is meant to encourage people to live their best single lives now. In no way am I saying I have conquered singleness and do it perfectly; but I can confidently say that singleness has not stopped the past 4 years from being some of the sweetest.
